To be able to collaborate to create such a lasting piece of jewelry (and my very first time doing such a thing), which will in turn benefit such a worthy organization is such a gift to me. I am honored to be a part of Leaves of Change. Gold is an ever-lasting material that can be worn well for generations to come. This means that I can pass it along to my daughter and her to children of her own someday ... And be able to say "my mom designed this!"
Having a new baby (now 16-months-old) gives one a new perspective on life. I hope that even a small thing I can do to promote awareness around children's issues or towards benefiting children's charities will hopefully make the world around or the life of a child a little better.
About my charity: Jewelers For Children
Jewelers For Children was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated more than $ 30 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse, or neglect through our charity partners St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the National CASA Association. JFC also provides support to the Make-A-Wish Foundational International, Autism Speaks, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Santa-America Fund. This nationwide success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals, and jewelry consumers.
